Review

Freeware Browser is a web browser that points directly at download websites. The idea is that with this application, you can easily find freeware and shareware software on some of the most popular download sites, all from within a single application. The main screen has several tabs that lead to download websites like Download.com, ZDNET, FreewareSeek, Tucows, Download32, FreewareArena, Webattack, etc. There are also 10 slots which you can use to save your favorite website pages. To search for applications, you simply have to type in the name of the application that you are looking for and you will be taken to the selected download website (Download.com, for example). The browser itself looks utter ugly. The design looks like something you would find in Windows 3.11. It is also buggy, returning errors left and right. It looks like it is based on Internet Explorer. Now, Freeware Browser will only allow you to download software for which you know the name, it doesn't provide suggestions or similar applications. The way I see it, you can perform all these tasks with Firefox, and it is way more stable than this. The idea is good but the realization was not that good, to say the least.
Advantages
  • Can't find any.
Disadvantages
  • Looks awful.
  • It is buggy.
